Product Review: Give a Sh!t Compostable Poop Bags

Product Review: Give a Sh!t Compostable Poop Bags

My friend just discovered these bags and gave me a roll to try out. Who doesn't love to try before you buy? So far I really like them. Some points about them: 1. They're compostable! 2. They're super soft, so you can open them even if you are wearing gloves. 3. They are larger than the other poop bags I have used. 4. They tear apart at the dotted line easily and don't tear the bag. 5. Husband fully expected this cornstarch bag to disintegrate when it touched snow, or to tear

    Product Review: Gardein Beefless Tips

I have a new favorite meal. I bought these beefless tips and was enjoying them as fajita meat, but one day I didn't have tortillas, so I put them in some naan - and added hummus, then this great wrap was born. And devoured. Beefless Tips (about 6 cubes fit in a wrap) Onion Bell Pepper Naan (plain or garlic) Hummus Feta Lettuce Cook the "meat" per the instructions on the back, but add onion and bell pepper. While that cooks, warm up your naan in the toaster or microwave. Sprea

    Product Review: Rhodes Cinnamon Rolls

I used to love Rhodes rolls - grab them out of the freezer, defrost and you have freshly-baked bread for dinner. Recently I discovered the cinnamon rolls in the freezer section. I love them for so many reasons. 1. They are delicious. 2. They come in a 12 pack, so you can take out as many as you need and keep the rest frozen. For the hubs and I that means we occasionally have these on the weekends. 3. They come with cream cheese frosting. And not just a little, but plenty of f

Product Review: Amy's Broccoli Pot Pie

Amy's (made with organic vegetables) broccoli pot pie with cheddar cheese sauce is amazing. Need a vegetarian pot pie? This is what to get. I've had other ones and they are made with disgusting nacho-cheese from a can-type cheese. So: go to the store and buy an Amy's pot pie. They're expensive for a pot pie - something like $5 - but not expensive for a great dinner. Preparation: I've never made one of these in the microwave or in a toaster oven - I highly recommend baking it

Product Review: Mr. Clean Magic Eraser

Kara has a spot at the front door. You can see how dirty it is in the photo above... also note how adorable Kara-berra is. So today I got off my lazy butt and took out the Mr. Clean Magic Eraser and cleaned the door. You just get the white sponge wet and wring it out. Then wipe up a mess. It's great for the door and the painted door jam. I've used it several times in the hallway as well, where my dogs rub up against the walls. Works like a charm. You can see the after photo t

Product Review: Ad Hoc Chocolate Layer Cake Mix

I went to the outlet mall recently and stopped by the greatest store: Williams Sonoma. Found this cake mix on the back clearance shelf for $2.61. Originally the mix should have cost $14.95 - but it was about to expire so I was in luck. I usually buy Betty Crocker cake mix and it's good. I wondered how good a $15 cake mix could be. The answer: pretty darn good. It was harder to prepare than a normal cake mix . You add the eggs, vegetable oil, milk and then at the end you add b

Product Review: Studio 35 Beauty Masks

Went to Walgreens the other day and picked up these masks for about $1 each. Wanted to try a bunch out before buying a whole jar of the product. My skin is ridiculously sensitive, so I didn't want to waste product or money. Here are my results. Detoxifying Mask: Nice! Deep Cleansing Mask: Really liked this one! Peel-Off Mask: Who doesn't love peeling off a mask? Super fun, but my skin didn't like it... Brightening Sheet Mask: My skin didn't like this one either #productreview

Product Review: Drop Slo-Bowl Slow Feeder

I timed Max and Kara eating their dinner for the past week and while Kara averaged 2 minutes 50 seconds, Max averaged 1 minute 40 seconds. Eating too quickly can cause bloat, regurgitation and canine obesity. Or in Max's case: horrendous gas. Because I work in a feed store, I was able to check out the catalogue from which we place orders and choose my own slow-feeder. Maybe I picked this one because it was teal. Whatever. The back of the box boasts that feeding dogs with this

Product Review: Immaculate Brownie Scratch Baking Mix

Oh my goodness, these are the best brownies that I have ever had. They cost $4.99 and are available at Target. They taste like homemade brownies, but are easier to make. Five stars out of five. #productreview

    Product Review: Butter Braids

If you know anyone selling Butter Braids as a fundraiser, you should buy at least one. My favorite is the cinnamon one. The one pictured is apple - also delicious. Butter Braids are perfect for a brunch, a holiday weekend, or whenever. Their only downfall is that they require planning. Butter Braids come frozen and can be stored in your freezer for quite some time. Defrost them the night before you want them and they will raise, then you bake them in the morning. After they

    Product Review: Shark Navigator Lift-Away

Having two dogs has increased the amount that I need to vacuum from once every 3 weeks to every 30 seconds. (Sorry if that photo grosses you out. It's a fact of life for me and most other dog owners in the world.) I was looking into getting a Dyson vacuum, cause I heard that they were awesome. I bet they are, but they are also $800. This vacuum was $120. It's the Shark Navigator Lift-Away. I decided to buy it based on some online reviews that I read, so I just thought I would

    Product Review: Furminator

I've talked about my dogs before: they're a mess. They shed a lot during this time of year. I'm okay with it, because I actually like brushing them. It's a good chance to get down on the floor with them and have some cuddles. I like to have a sense of accomplishment, and this brush, the Furminator, helps me get that feeling. Max, he doesn't really shed much (have I mentioned that he is my favorite?) ... But Kara, she is a whole different story. Let me just say about this phot
